Certainly, many people are hesitant to try an escape room because of a big misconception that escape rooms are scary. Themes can vary but it is generally a fun, safe activity. Another worry is about being locked in but that’s a huge misconception. You will never be locked in the escape room and it should never happen in any escape room in Ontario (that’s dangerous and illegal).
Daydream Adventures designs family friendly games at our Toronto escape room.Your team can choose between a sci-fi or fantasy themed adventure. Inside of the room, you will explore a beautiful handmade set to uncover clues.Our escape room relies on teamwork and lets everyone take part in the adventure. You also have a host (called a gamemaster) that keeps an eye on your progress and is available to provide hints, as needed!
Not sure what an escape room is exactly? We can help clear up your questions! For starters, you do not need outside knowledge. Kids will need to know basics like ABC’s and 123’s, but it is not a trivia game. Your team will find everything you need in the game. It’s normal to feel lost at first. Everyone will need to look around for clues to help solve the puzzles. You might find one clue and someone else will spot a related clue on the other side of the room. That’s where teamwork comes in to put the clues together! The game is 60 minutes but plan to be here for at least 75 minutes as there is a before and after game debrief. Your host will be sure to keep your family on track to finish (or get very close to it) in time.
The Dream Portal at Daydream Adventures is a perfectly magical escape room for kids.
It’s a fun activity for kids to socialize while developing problem solving and teamwork skills. In the escape room, kids will role play and use their imagination. They will be Adventurers that help Forest Spirits in the world of Hilda the Witch. They’ll explore the wonders of the forest and help restore its magic. It’s a 60 minute experience that’s like watching a movie but is more of an interactive adventure.
The Ice Cave at Daydream Adventures is a highly interactive sci-fi escape room for kids.
Just like our other escape game it’s a fun activity for kids to socialize, problem solve and work together. Kids play the role of Adventurers exploring an abandoned, ancient cave that may be from an alien planet. In the escape room, they may not even realize they are solving puzzles as they interact with different props. It’s a 60 minute experience that will let them feel like they are uncovering a mysterious new world.
Indeed, playing in a family friendly escape room is a surprising way for kids to develop their skills. Everyone is going to need to communicate their ideas and work as a team to make progress in the game. With each puzzle, logical thinking will be the way team members can make connections between the clues and reach a solution. Your little learners may be tired of school and this is a great break where they can have fun while learning! It’s common in escape rooms to encounter puzzles that use observation, patterns and sometimes even simple math. An online escape room is a fun kids activity to try during this lockdown.
Do you book it for your kids only, do you invite their friends or do you play as a family, maybe invite the grandparents? You can even book a birthday party (read more about that here)! Kids 10 and older will usually be able to play without adults – of course, you know their abilities best. Younger players will enjoy helping out on a team of adults and/or older kids. Our escape room experience is $36 per person and can have teams of up to 8 players per room. Daydream Adventure’s escape rooms are an activity for kids that will be fun for the whole family! You can help your kids make connections and encourage their ideas. Be aware that kids are creative and love to play; this means that when adults are busy overthinking, young players may already be solving the puzzle. My wife and I, along with our two young boys (3 and 6), recently completed the Witch’s Forest virtual experience…the whole thing was a grade-A experience from start to finish! Booking was easy, logging in to access the experience via zoom was simple, and Hilda The Witch (our online host) was fantastic throughout! I think Hilda deserves exceptional accolades for managing to maintain the attention of our two young boys, keeping them engaged, while also ensuring that the experience was challenging/enjoyable for the adults at the same time!…Okay, mom and dad were probably a bit more excited, but the kids now ask regularly when we will do another one!
